Morris
County Saint Patrick's Parade
The Morris County Saint Patrick's
Parade was begun in 1979 in Wharton, NJ. Through the years the
parade has grown into the second largest Saint Patrick's Parade in the
state. Since 1991 the parade has been held in
the County Seat of Morristown, NJ. The parade is well known for
its ability to draw tremendous crowds and to stand by its religious and
cultural themes. The parade has more band participation than The
Rose Bowl Parade. The event is held annually the Saturday before
Saint Patrick's Day (If Saint Patrick's is on a weekend the parade is
held on Saturday, one week earlier). The parade is alcohol-free.
The Presidents of The Friendly
Sons and The Irish American Association of Northwest Jersey (IAANWJ) act
as Parade Co-Chairpersons. Numerous members of our organization
have given untold hours of their time on the Parade, Finance and
Executive Committees of the Parade.
Funds raised through the hard
work of the Parade Finance Committee and the generosity of corporations
and individuals have allowed for the parade to be completely privately
financed. Through the years, the Parade Organization has donated
tens of thousands of dollars to local Project Graduations
(alcohol-free high school graduation events) and Project Children.
